Norma Lorida McDonald

It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Norma Lorida McDonald, who left us on April 1, 2026 at the age of 93.

She was born on October 24, 1932 in Viking, Alberta, and moved with her family to B.C. in her early years. She spent much of her life in Port Moody, later choosing Chilliwack as the place to enjoy her retirement. Norma lived a life defined by her gentle spirit, resilience and unwavering devotion to her family. While being a loving and caring mother and grandmother, she was also a devoted wife and companion to her late husband, Raymond (Ray) McDonald.

She is lovingly remembered by her children; Lorida Ashton (Glenn), Lance Anderson, Ian Anderson, Bridget Black (Mark), step children; Robert McDonald (Kim), Brenda McDonald (Cory) and her grandchildren; Shannon (Robert-deceased), Leah (Ifran), Regan (Sarah), Travis, Lexie (Lucas), Raymond, Melissa, Mathew, Laney and Grayson.
She is also survived by six great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Norma was predeceased by her husband Ray, siblings; Helen, Myrna and Allen as well as her grandsons; Joel, Christian and Jordan.

During her life, Mom had a passion for social dancing, and together with Ray, she enjoyed travelling in their RV, exploring many parts of the U.S. as well as B.C. and Alberta. She also loved spending time at her home in Birch Bay, and it brought her happiness to see others enjoy it in her absence. In her later years, she seemed most content at home visiting with family and friends.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of Valleyhaven Care Home for their dedicated care, kindness and support of our Mom during her time there.

A memorial service will held at a later date.

Though she is no longer with us, her love remains a constant presence in our lives. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered and as she would say… “Go Easy”
