Maxine Mae Noren

NOREN – Maxine Mae Noren (nee Mills) of Carstairs, AB passed away on Friday, February 23, 2018 at the age of 56 surrounded by family. She will be greatly missed by her husband Kenneth and son Luke. Her parents Alfred and Lenora Mills of Naicam, SK, her sisters Louisa (Mervin) Woolsey of Naicam, SK and Jo-Anne (Glenn) Moskal of Melfort, SK and her brother Stan Mills of Comox, BC; 4 nephews and 1 niece and their families

Celebration of Life for our beloved Maxine will be held on Saturday March 3, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Hugh Sutherland School in Carstairs, Alberta.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Chinook's Edge School Division for the Maxine Noren Scholarship Fund. Student families and staff can make donations on line through the Carstairs Elementary or Hugh Sutherland student quick pay. Charitable tax receipts will be issued. Cheques need to be made out to Chinook's Edge School Division No. 73 and mailed directly to CESD, 4904 - 50th Street, Innisfail, Alberta.

Dear Ken and Luke, My heartfelt sympathy to you and your family on the passing of your loving wife/mother, Max. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this very sad time. I had the great honour of working with Max at HSS from 1999 until she moved to CES. Fun was always in the cards and lots of laughs. I enjoyed her visits to back at HSS, too. Maxine also welcomed my daughter, Chantel, into her classroom to volunteer while in High School. Chantel is now a teacher. My son, Brennen, worked at CES and enjoyed his chats with Max. She touched so many hearts and will be greatly missed. RIP Maxine. Take care Ken and Luke.

Ken & Luke, I feel very privileged to have known Max. We first met when I had Luke in preschool where I was introduced to her beautiful laugh & fun nature. Having worked at HSS, I was able to see the caring, joyful and skilled teacher that she was. She truly changed the lives of many children giving them not only a quality education but the ability to have fun and enjoy their learning. Ken and Luke, please accept our condolences. Larissa has long considered Maxine the best teacher she ever had and, as parents, we are appreciative of the positive effect she made on our lives. An example of Max’s care, thought and passion for her students occurred around the time of Larissa’s graduation from High School when we received a package of her work from grade 1. Remarkably Maxine had kept this for 11 years and made the effort to send it to our address in BC! She will be missed but her influence will most certainly live on.

Ken, My deepest condolences to you and your family. I'm so sorry for your loss. Max was such a great person to be around. I will never forget our days of playing ball together, she was always such a little ball of energy. I'm sorry I wasn't able to be at her Celebration of Life at the School :( I only found out today (March 4th) from Lane that she had passed. I'm sad to her of her passing but relieved her suffering has come to an end. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this tough time :(
