Tom passed away peacefully at home with his wife and best friend by his side after a lengthy battle with cancer and MDS. Tom is survived by his wife Bev, Children Carl (Carrie), Kimberly (Ron), Ian (Kristy), Sister Wendy Collister (Victoria B.C.), Grandson Cole and other loving family members. Tom was predeceased by his mother and father, Marjorie & Charles Nelson of Victoria, B.C. Tom served 26 years in the R.C.M.P. of which he was very proud. Tom retired in Nanton in 1995. He was very proud to be involved in the Nanton Masonic Lodge, as well as the Boosters, Golf Course, Legion, Fire Dept and the Nanton community in general. Family and friends were a priority in Tom’s life. As per Tom’s request there will be no funeral but a celebration of his life will be held Dec 7, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Nanton Community Centre. If desired donations can be made in Tom’s memory to the High River Cancer Care Centre, 509 – 9 Avenue W., High River, AB, T1V 1B3 or Bomber Command Museum of Canada, PO Box 1051, Nanton, AB, T0L 1R0. We would like to thank Dr Duggan & Karen for the special care he was given as well as the rest of the staff at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre and also the wonderful, caring staff of the High River Cancer Centre & the Calgary South Campus Hosp.
