Cornelia Mumford

Long-time Sumas Prairie resident Cora Mumford passed away on March 14. Born to John and Angela VanderHoek, Cora married Bel Mumford in 1945 and together they farmed and raised their three children on Campbell Road. Celebrating her life are sons Greg (Joan) of Kingston and Doug (Sandy) of Toronto and daughter Donna Gannon of Edmonton; grandsons Kevin (Alison) of Kingston, Derek (Kristin) of Toronto and Rob Hodgson of Durham, and granddaughter Cathy (Brant) Fallin of Fort Collins, CO. Cora took delight in her later years in her great grandchildren Aaron, Russell, Jacob and Avery. Cora is survived by four siblings: Nelly Swett, Ted, Leona Higginson and George.

A Celebration of Cora’s life is planned for 2 pm on June 9, 2018 at 3700 Boundary Road, Abbotsford.

I would like to express my deepest condolences to the family of a truly wonderful woman, Cora Mumford. I had the pleasure of getting to know Cora while working as a housekeeper/dining assistant at Hallmark on the Park. I remember always looking forward to cleaning for her because I was always greeted with genuine kindness, a warm smile, and Cora always treated me with respect. She really appreciated what I did for her, always said thank-you to me, and I will always be grateful for the time that I was able to spend with her. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Aunt Cora was a grand old gal, and I shall miss her a great deal. Her keen mind and sharp wit always kept me on my toes, and that sly sense of humor often took me by surprise. She was one of a kind, independent as she could be to the end, and will live on in our hearts and memories.

Lieve Familie Mumford, Ik wil jullie allereerst condoleren met het overlijden van jullie (groot) moeder. Ze was een opgewekte vrouw. Altijd gereed om te helpen, zo herinner ik me haar. Ze mocht een hoge leeftijd bereiken, maar je moet toch je moeder missen. Mijn gedachten gaan terug naar de tijd dat ze in Holland was met haar moeder Angela. Het was een erg leuke tijd. Ik wens jullie een waardige en fijne afscheidsdienst op zaterdag 9 juni. Sterkte en een lieve groet, Bob Molenaar.
