Hendrik "Hank" Moes

MOES, Hendrik (Hank)

Hendrik (Hank) Moes passed away surrounded by family at home on December 11, 2016 at the age of 84.  Hank was born in Zuidwolde, Drente, Netherlands in 1932, where he grew upon a farm as part of a family of ten children. He married Hendrika(Henny) DeJonge in 1952 and subsequently immigrated to Canada the same year.  Starting with almost nothing, including a limited command of English, Hank eventually worked his way up to a comfortable and successful life providing for his large family of five children.  Trained as a millwright in the Netherlands, he was well known as a man who could repair virtually anything, and remained a craftsman extraordinaire right up until the last month of his life. 

He is predeceased by his first wife Henny who passed away in 1999 and an infant daughter Joanne.  He is survived by his second wife Alice Moes (Albers) and 4 step children and 13 step grandchildren, and his children:  Hennie (Dave, predeceased) Rickett; Harry(Betty) Moes; Joan Moes; Grace (Richard) Havinga; and Chris (Sheila) Moes, as well as 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by 1 sister and 1 brother-in-law and 1 sister-in-law. 

Memorial Service to be held at Emmanuel Christian Reformed Church; 3020 51 Street SW Calgary, AB Monday, December 19,2016 at 2:00 pm.
