Steven J. Megley

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather.  He will be sorely missed and forever remembered by his wife of 58 years, Mary, his children Lori Megley-Best (Greg), Leslie Lanyi (Rick), and Rick Megley.  Family was very important to Steve, and his grandchildren Claire (Chris) and Stephen Lanyi, and Benjamin, Jacob, Samuel and Nicholas Best each held a special place in his heart.  Steve is survived by one brother, Alec Megley, and many nieces and nephews.  Steve was born and raised on a farm near Andrew, Alberta, worked in the Superintendent’s Office of CP Rail for 37 ½ years, and was an avid gardener, square dancer, card player and cross country skier.  Despite living with dementia/Parkinsonism, his smile and sense of humor delighted those around him until the last few days of his life.

His family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the staff at the Mayfair Extended Care Centre, who gave Steve such tender loving care up to the end.  A Memorial Service will be held at McDougall United Church, 8516 Athabasca Street SE, Calgary on Friday, November 11 at 2:00 pm.
