Scott Edward McMullan

It is with heavy hearts we announce the death of our beloved Scott (64) after a brief illness. Although he had lived with M.S. for many years his death was unexpected at this time. Scott leaves behind his grieving mother Catherine, sister Carrie (Stephen), brothers Steven and Robbie (Gina), nephew Devon, nieces Lauren, Jenna, Megan, Sarah, Rachel and Caitlin, uncle Garry, cousins Nora, Brian, Mark, Shauna, Paula, Tory, Lindsey, and Kristie.

Scott spent an idyllic childhood in Oakville Ont. After he graduated with a Bachelor of Science [math] from the University of Toronto he wanted to explore other places and cultures and went to live and work in Montreal, Dublin, London, Spain and finally Brussels where he made many good friends, Anna Marie, Simon, Thomas, and many others. His lifelong faithful friends from Ontario Marg (Wayne), Janet, Rosanne, Randy who were special to him and many more.

After returning home Scott lived happily in Ocean Park, South Surrey with his mum. He was much loved by all of us and is truly missed.

Funeral details: Thursday September 14th /23

Mass at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2240-150th Street South Surrey BC. at 11am with reception following.

Scott will be interned at The Gardens of Gethsemani Catholic Cemetery beside his beloved Dad with family in attendance.

I am Janet Laidlaw's younger sister. I grew up with Scott. Some of my most memorable laughing moments are memories with Scott. In the face of adversity he would say something so blunt and we would just start laughing. He taught me how to laugh at my self and others in a good way. I will miss him and carry his spirit with me always. Love you Scott.

I had the pleasure of knowing Scott through my mother Janet Laidlaw, he was such a positive friendly person and I always looked forward to seeing him. I'm lucky to have fond memories of him visiting and sometimes gifting me CD's and Hubba Bubba when I was young. I will never forget his kindness and will always think of him when I hear that music. Thank you Scott, rest in peace.

Scott was our dear friend for 50 years. Scott was highly intelligent, quietly brave and faced his challenges directly -- including the MS that ravaged his body and cut short his globe trotting adventures. Scott loved his mom and family. We enjoyed his happy updates after visits from nieces, nephews and new babies! Scott was a devoted and charitable friend to us and his many friends - including several young people across the world. We will miss our conversations and his insights on music, tech, art, culture, world affairs and cooking. We will especially miss his witty comments and contagious laughter. Scott and myself had a few adventures together but the one hair raising one would have been when we were 14 years of age taking a leisurely walk across a railroad trestle over the sixteen mile creek in Oakville only to hear a loud horn behind us which put us into high gear running across the open railway tyes below us. When we made it across and the sound of the horn was piercing our ears. I'm sure we both felt invincible for a time. So sorry to hear of his passing.
