Irma Ruth McClintock
July 1, 2013
On Monday, July 1, 2013, Irma Ruth McClintock (nee Galenzoski), late of Regina, passed away at home at the age of 88 years. Irma was predeceased by her husband Bill, parents Richard and Martha, brother Irvin Richards, and sister Edna Paholko. She is survived by her family: son Bill (Rita), grandchildren Kyle, Berke, and Rae, of Regina; son Ron (Dira) of Duncan, BC; sister Marion (Jim) Brown; brother/sisters-in-law, Carol and Ernie McClintock, Evelyn Werner, Marj Koch, Helen Hodel, and Elma McMillan. Irma was born on the farm near Halbrite, SK on August 8, 1924 to Richard and Martha Galenzoski. In 1934, the family moved to Wadena in search of better farm land, returning to the Galenzoski homestead near McLean in 1938. Irma moved to Regina to attend secretarial courses at Balfour when she was 17. In 1945 she met her husband Bill while he was on leave from the army (who looked fine in a uniform); they married in 1946. Irma worked for the Sask. Government in various roles, took time off to raise her sons, then returned to the workforce in 1974 at the U of R in payroll administration from which she retired in 1991. Irma’s greatest joy was gardening in the shade of a big floppy hat and gardening gloves while up to her wrists in the fertile soil of her yard. Her beautiful rose beds were known for blocks around her neighbourhood. Her other pride and joys were her three grandchildren; she was thankful to have been able to attend the youngest’s graduation from grade 12 just last week. Irma cherished many years at the family cottage at B-Say-Tah, loved traveling with her husband and friends to Hawaii and Las Vegas; flew to Vancouver Island to visit her son and daughter-in-law, all the while having at least one good book on the go. Immediate family would like to thank the family, friends, and neighbours who aided Irma in achieving her goal of spending the latter years of her life in her own home. A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. in the Edna May Forbes Lady Slipper Courtyard, 2900 Wascana Drive, Regina, SK. (just North of the Marina). Private interment will be held in Riverside Memorial Park. Friends so wishing may make donations to the Regina Humane Society, P.O. Box 3143, Regina, SK. S4P 3G7.
