Because of him I smile and giggle from the sight of randomly placed bricks and will always cherish fond memories throughout my lifetime with Neil. Thank you so very much dad for helping shape me into the women I am today. I know that you are always walking beside me, Deanna, Jody, Alfredo, Gilda and all your beautiful grandchildren. I also know how proud you are right now of Gilda for how she is finding her strength right now. Love you forever, like you for always. As long as we are living our daddy you'll be. Although we only met on a few "special occasions" over the years, Neil in his very personal way, made us feel warm and welcomed whenever in his company. Our hearts are very saddened to hear of his passing. Our sympathy goes to his beautiful daughters DEANNA, BRENDA and JODY and to their families and to his wife GILDA and her son ALFREDO. It Really always seems such an emotional loss when we lose someone significant in our life. Could it really be our gain that after , and only then , do we truly speak and feel most openly about all the characteristics we held near and dear about them . This is not in any way offered as a criticism. In fact Neil was just a baby in 1949 when his sister Carol and I married . He was always as I knew him a happy easy going young child . As Carol and my family grew we moved many times and consequently saw little of Neil Each of Carols sisters spent several periods of time with us during holidays and later sometimes when between jobs etc.. It was the Reunion two years ago that for the fist time I had the opportunity to connect with this side of Carol and My original family and what a moving experience it really was . On our way back to Calgary ,Susan , my second daughter took the opportunity to spend a couple of hours with Neil. Met a very mild ,warm man who was interested in many things . The two that stand out for me were his love of family and his social conscience I feel sad for myself that I met such an unselfish fellow in Neil and yet had missed all those years not knowing him. There were many more that I very similarly with. I guess the only message I could for me honor Neil McLain with is isn't it sad that I never new him before I lost him except for that fleeting visit . Girl's: So sorry to hear about your Dad's passing away. We were friends for 30 years and even though we fell out of touch I thought about him often. He will be missed.
