Emil Mathes passed away peacefully Tuesday August 20, 2019 in Calgary, AB. Emil leaves behind his cherished wife, Helene Mathes (nee: Bernat); sons, Hans and Albert; daughters-in-law, Misty Harrison and Marvis Mathes. Emil's last thoughts were also with his four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Born January 13, 1932 in Kisielin,Kreis Horochuf to father, Daniel Mathes, and mother, Martha Mathes, (nee: Quirant). Emil was a skilled Meister Baker, trained in Germany. Emil's skills was not limited to baking.Emil was a talented carpenter and craftsman who owned and managed a six suite apartment in Regina, SK with his wife Helene. Emil and Helene moved to Calgary, AB in June 1978 having bought Mayland Heights Bakery. Emil was a loving, hard working, honest man who raised two sons and flourished with his beloved wife Helene. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Mountview Church of God, 637 17th Ave NE, Calgary AB at 11:00 am.

Hans and Marvis, My condolences on the passing of Emil. I remember visiting the bakery back in 1986 or so and meeting Emil and Helene and them sending Debra and I away with many sweets.
