We are saddened to announce the death of Anna Martens (née Braun) at 94 years of age. She was predeceased by parents Franz and Elizabeth Braun, stepmother Helen Braun, husband Henry Martens and brother Frank (Jake) Braun. She is survived by sister-in-law Phyllis, nephews and nieces and their children, as well as stepchildren Edward (Patricia) Martens, Harold (Lynn) Martens and Viola (Brian) Pickering, grandsons Stefan (Nesil), Jason, Justin, Jonathan, Jim (Melissa,) Sheldon and Conor and great grandson Jacob.
After graduating as an RN from Hamilton General Hospital, she completed a year of public health education at the University of Toronto before serving with the Victorian Order of Nurses. Anna will be remembered as an adventurous, kind and generous person of integrity who loved to cook and welcome people to her home. As a committed Christian, her church community was very important to her. Flowers and gardening were her love. We will miss her and remember her with many fond memories.
The family would like to thank the staff of Menno Home for their kindness and care during this past year and especially in her last days. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Menno Home, 32910 Brundige Ave, Abbotsford, BC V2S 1N2 or MCC www.mcccanada.ca.
