January 8, 1946 – June 19, 2016

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden, peaceful passing of Gary Marshall in his home early Sunday, June 19, 2016 at the age of 70 years. Gary is survived by his loving wife, Veronica (Ronnie) of 47 years; two daughters, Karen and Colleen, whom he dearly cherished; two sisters, Linda (Rick) Preston, Marlene Iles and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

An Open House to celebrate Gary’s life will be held at Highwood Golf and Country Club, 400 – 7 Street NW, High River, AB on Sunday, July 10, 2016 from 1:00 – 4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Gary’s memory to a charity of your choice.

My condolences to Veronica and family, I met Gary in the 1980's playing racquetball in Calgary. Then got to play golf with him a few times a year at the Highwood. Gary was a great guy and will be missed.

My thoughts are with the Marshall family in this time of Gary's passing. I first met Gary at the Foothills Court House playing racquet ball in the 80s. Gary always had a smile and a quip, even for us lowly B players. We would bump into each other periodically at the Highwood golf course and Gary would spend time catching up on life with me. I will miss Gary.

Gary was a great man and friend. I met Gary on the squash courts at the U of C when I was just learning the game. I will always remember his competitive spirit and sportsmanship. I still hear him in my head when I play today and things get tight as a match progresses. "The party is over" he would say with a smile, as he increased his focus and intensity to make a push for the win. He was very generous with his time and knowledge and very influential in my progression with the game. More importantly, he was a great friend and always a lot of fun to be around. He taught me many life lessons that continue to serve me well everyday. Gary will be dearly missed and remembered by many. I am thankful for having the opportunity and pleasure of knowing Gary.
