Marion Bernice Gertrud Nestegard

June 24, 2026

It is with sadness we announce that Marion Bernice Gertrud (Manz) Nestegard - beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend - died on June 24th.  She was 89.

Eldest of eight children, born on her grandfather’s farm in the Southey district and raised on a farm two miles northeast of Cupar, Marion moved into Regina following high school to work.  She met Dennis in 1957, marrying him in 1958 with the “Three B’s” born through the subsequent 6 years.  Her whole adult life was lived in Regina.  Marion was a dedicated homemaker, cook and canner; a fierce mama bear; a committed marriage partner; music lover, dancer, piano/organ player and choir singer; gardener; cyclist, cross country skier and golfer; camper, traveler and avid collector of memories; game player of all types especially  Scrabble; conversationalist extraordinaire; volunteer and more.

She was a proud Canadian, Saskatchewanian, Reginan.  Marion was proud of her roots.  Family was her life.  She hated injustice.  Her tenacious, decades long advocacy for those with autism will be part of her ongoing legacy.  She was a woman of deep faith. Her laughter and smile will be missed by all she met.

Marion is predeceased by her son-in-law Ian Nestegaard Paul; father and mother Fernie and Alma Manz; sister Helen Shannon; brothers-in-law George (Bud) Shannon, Wayne Pusch, Ivan Radke, Barry Ramsay; and nephew Darren Currie.  Left to hold her in their hearts are husband of 68 years Dennis Nestegard; daughter Brenda Nestegaard Paul; sons Blaine and Boyd Nestegard; granddaughter Bronwynn Nestegaard-Paul; sisters Janice Nachtigall (Helmut), Linda Pusch, Deborah Weeres (Ike), Diana McDowell (Bruce); brothers Lloyd Manz (Earlene), David Manz (Nora); sisters-in-law Ardyth Alexander (Ralph), Elnore Radke, Elaine Ramsay; brother-in-law Dale Nestegard (Carol); numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Thanks go out to the staff of the Campbell Care Home for their compassionate care of Marion.  Thanks also to Madison of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation for her caring spirit.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 11th at 1 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 190 Massey Road, Regina.

In lieu of flowers donations are encouraged to the Autistic Resource Centre (ARC) in Regina or the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan. Donate | ARC

It is with deep gratitude for her life lived amongst us that we now entrust Marion to God’s eternal love.  May she rest in peace.
