Margaret Annie Reimer

February 16, 1936 – July 17, 2025

Margaret Annie Reimer of Elim Village in Surrey, British Columbia, passed away peacefully in hospice on the afternoon of July 17, 2025, at the age of 89.

Born in Gilroy, Saskatchewan, and raised alongside ten siblings in the small town of Eyebrow, Margaret’s childhood was marked by a deep love of the outdoors. She spent her early years horseback riding through the picturesque Qu’Appelle Valley, a passion that stayed with her throughout her life. In her teens, she embraced her Christian faith, being baptized as a young woman.

Margaret pursued nursing, completing her studies in Moose Jaw. In 1960, she married and relocated to Calgary, where she and her growing family developed a lifelong appreciation for the foothills and Rocky Mountains.  An active woman, she enjoyed cross-country skiing and hiking, always embracing the beauty of nature.

Known for her nurturing spirit, Margaret never failed to cultivate bountiful flower and vegetable gardens.  Her home was a welcoming place, graciously hosting countless family and church events.  Besides her work as a nurse, she and her husband ventured into entrepreneurship by starting a printing business together.

Margaret was a devoted mother and friend, with a fondness for poetry and music that enriched the lives of those around her.  In later years, she and Mervin traveled widely, cherishing new experiences and adventures.  She took great joy in welcoming her children, grandchildren, and eventually great-grandchildren to her home, always a gracious hostess and wise mentor.

Her strength was evident in her courageous battles with cancer in 2012 and again in 2023, facing both with resilience and grace.

Margaret is survived by her brother Jacob and sisters Helen and Kathy.  She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Mervin.  She is mourned by her children Vincent (Caroline), Bonita, Roseanne (David), and Tammie (Bert), as well as six grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren who will carry forward her legacy of love and kindness.

Margaret’s life was a testament to faith, family, and friendship, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
