With great sadness the family announces the passing of Verna Maier on June 21, 2020 at the Long Lake Valley Integrated Facility in Imperial, Saskatchewan at the age of 89 years. Lovingly remembered by her children Bill, Sandra (Kent), MaryLou (Derwin), Gerry, Glen (Gaye), Don (Gayle), Tim, Rita (Randy), Jeff (Anitra); 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Peter; grandson Adam; parents William and Margaret Dauk; siblings Wilfred, Catherine (Cae) and Rita.
Verna was born and raised in Annaheim, Saskatchewan and after teacher’s college moved to Holdfast where she met and married Peter and together raised their 9 children. After Peter’s passing in 1985 Verna moved to Regina. Her life’s work centered around her family. She was a great cook, loved nature and spending time outdoors working in her yard. Her love of music, books and painting continued well into her later years and our family treasures many of her works of art.
Mom left us quietly in the same manner she lived her life and she will be truly missed.
A very special thank you is extended to the staff at Long Lake Valley Integrated Facility who took such special care of Mom and filled her final days with kindness and compassion.
A private function will be held by the family in Celebration of Verna’s Life at a later date.
