Magdalena (Friesen) Williams

Magdalena (Friesen) Williams passed away peacefully January 30, 2026, at the age of 92

Magda Williams was born on December 19, 1933, in Grunthal, Manitoba to John and Tina Friesen, new immigrants from South Russia, and Magda was sibling number 6 of 7.  When Magda was 10 yrs old the family made the move west to the Fraser Valley. From very young, the children learned to work collectively for the family.

Magda accepted Jesus as her Saviour at the age of 12 and was baptized at 17. She completed grade 10 and then found a job doing housework.  She took the Practical Nursing course and enjoyed helping the ill & aging, including her own parents.

At age 45 she married Ron Williams. Together they opened a Hobby & Craft store, then volunteered in the community such as Citizen’s Patrol, driving cancer patients, and served in their local church.

Ron passed away August 9, 2001, and she began volunteering at the Clearbrook MCC Thrift store where she worked faithfully for 24 years.

All her siblings have gone on before her; however, Magda has left behind 4 stepchildren, and many nieces & nephews. Neither family nor friends will ever forget her friendship, love, kindness, selflessness, generosity and prayers for them.

A service of remembrance and celebration will be held Wednesday, April 1 at Immanual Fellowship Baptist Church in Abbotsford.
