Henry Mackin aged 75 years of Langley, BC passed away suddenly on November 22, 2022. Henry is survived by his wife, Sandra, and many close friends and colleagues. No Service is planned at this time.
Henry (aka “Hank”) was a lifelong lumberman. His grandfather and names sake, H J Mackin, owned Fraser Mills and there is a park in Coquitlam named after the Mackin family.
Henry started his career in the late 60’s with Hampton Lumber in Clinton, B.C. and moved into buying and selling lumber with Weldwood of Canada in the mid 70’s. He also worked as a lumber trader at Westar Timber, Repap Timber, Slocan Forest Products, and Canfor Forest Products. During his time in business, he became a mentor to many up and comers in the forest industry. He was always a true gentleman and Henry understood the importance of business relationships, and was always the first one in the office.
Before and after his retirement, Henry enjoyed many years of golfing with the guys at Beach Grove Golf Club and in Palm Springs.
Henry volunteered for 4 plus years with “Food on the Corner” in Vancouver and also recently began volunteering with “Night Shift Ministries” in Surrey. Both of which gave Henry pleasure and fulfillment.
For the past 6 years, Henry worked part-time for Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Services delivering to families the Cremated Remains of their loved ones. At this emotional moment, his special kind, warm and gentle manner was so appreciated by those met him.
Henry and Sandra vacationed in Mexico for the winters and established many friendships there. He’ll be missed by many locals in La Cruz who nicknamed him “Kiki“.
Henry will be sorely missed by so many.
