Allan MacArthur of Calgary passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at the age of 77 years.

Allan is lovingly remembered by his family, wife, Shirley of 53 years; son, Shawn (Teresa); daughter, Jennifer; 5 grandchildren, Cameron, Christopher, Jackson, Catherine and Samuel; as well as brother, Lloyd; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held at St. James Anglican Church, 6351 Ranchview Drive NW, Calgary, AB on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Allan’s memory to the St. James Anglican Memorial Fund, 6351 Ranchview Drive NW, Calgary, AB, T3G 1B5 or the Shriner’s Hospital for Children (Canada), 1003 Decarie Blvd, Montreal, Quebec, H4A 0A9.

Dear Shirley and family, I was sad to see Al's obituary in today's Herald. When he was President of the Local and I was Vice-President, I can assure you I learned a great deal about the ATA, both locally and provincially, through his wise perceptions. I also learned that he was a very sensitive man. When I faced him across the bargaining table during "the big strike," he was always well prepared and a step ahead of everyone else, which enhanced my respect for him. My sincerest condolences on your loss.
