Lorne David Rhos Dyke
August 24, 2025
Lorne was born and raised in Nelson, BC and passed away in West Vancouver, BC. He is predeceased by his wife E. Ann Dyke (née Bissett), sister Jocelyn Noel and his parents Kathleen E. Dyke and Rhos A. Dyke. Lorne will be lovingly remembered by his children Rhos (Andrea), Lorne (Diane), Katie (Stuart), and Drewery (Jess), his eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Lorne graduated from UBC, B Comm, 1956, and from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University, MA, 1962. He began his career in Canada's Foreign Trade Service as a Trade Commissioner with posts in Greece, Boston and Trinidad & Tobago. Lorne served as Deputy Minister, Industry & Commerce in Manitoba. He helped guide the establishment of the Caribbean Development Bank (Barbados) as a VP. Lorne then joined Boeing of Canada as VP and Winnipeg Division as inaugural GM. He was President of Canertech Inc., an incubator for renewable energy and energy efficiency startups. Later he courted venture capital for Canadian businesses in California and accepted international trade consulting projects. These opportunities supported a life-long love of travel, an interest in learning about people and their cultures, and achievements in fostering business development in the Caribbean and Africa.
The family is grateful to the staff at Kiwanis Manor and Inglewood Care Centre. At Lorne’s wish there are no scheduled services, but those who desire may make donations in memory of Lorne to the BC Cancer Foundation.
Kalo Taxidi Kalo Paradiso dear Dad.
