Lorna Charlotte Currie (née Robertson)
May 14, 1931 – May 22, 2026
It is with love and gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of Lorna Charlotte Currie at the age of 95, in Misson, B.C.
Lorna was born in Alexis Creek, British Columbia, to Alexander and Margaret Robertson, immigrants from Scotland. She was the sixth of eleven children and grew up in McLeese Lake, where her strong sense of family and community began.
After completing teacher training, Lorna taught at the local school her father built. In 1955, she married her beloved husband Ian, and together they built a life centered on family. They lived in Prince Rupert, Quesnel, and Coquitlam before settling in Abbotsford, where they raised their children: David, Donald, Russell, Margaret, and Catherine.
Lorna was hardworking and enterprising with careers in real estate, selling encyclopedias, and with the help of Ian, creating and running a ceramics shop. Lorna loved quilting and there always seemed to be a renovation project on the go - her hands were never idle. Later, she and Ian returned to McLeese Lake, where they built their dream log home and enjoyed a close-knit community.
Known for her hospitality, Lorna’s home was always open, with tea on and baking in the oven. She proudly celebrated her Scottish heritage, hosting annual Robbie Burns dinners for family and friends.
Lorna was predeceased by her husband Ian, son Donald, and grandson Gregory. She is lovingly remembered by her children: David (Krista), Russell (Karen), Margaret (Steve), and Catherine (Russell), as well as 23 grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren to date.
She believed deeply that if you take care of others, you never need to worry about yourself—a principle she lived by every day.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at TRIM for their compassionate care. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
A memorial service will be held at The Gathering Place Church on Friday, June 5 at 11:00 am. 2285 Clearbrook Road in Abbotsford, BC. Please send condolences below.
