Friend, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a true gem in every role! While we all aspire to it, they might have broken the mold? For the lion’s share of her nearly 95 years, Mom centered the family, living the values and virtues that are the foundations for our happiness and success. Nothing was more important.
Lois was always on the move, playing on every school team and captaining the cheerleading squad. And, when she wasn’t seamlessly hosting a dinner party for 40 friends and family, she was volunteering in the community, including at G.F. Strong, Pearson Hospital and the Junior League of Canada, or typing textbooks into braille for the deaf and blind school. Lois loved most to give, often centering around her mastery in the kitchen. She never went anywhere empty-handed, often with her infamous lemon cake.
Pre-deceased by her husband of more than 70 years Bruce, who is waiting to take her on in their 11,000th game of crib, and survived by her five children – Doug, Dave, Lynn, Joan and John – along with their spouses and her 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren (soon to be 29), Mom leaves a true legacy of love and unwavering support. We miss her already while strengthened with a clear sense that she lives on in our hearts and souls.
The family looks forward to spreading Mom’s ashes in a family garden she so enjoyed, and to saving a sprinkle to join with Dad at sea. Contributions in Lois’ name should be made to Covenant House in Vancouver, one of Mom’s and Dad’s favourite charities.
