It is with tremendous sadness we must announce the passing of Linda Katherine Balycky (nee Niedermayer) on 23 May, 2025 in the Palliative Care Unit of Regina’s Pasqua Hospital. Born on April 11th, 1950, Linda’s early years on a farm near Kendal, Saskatchewan forged a relentless work ethic and a lifelong love of animals. Linda graduated from Montmartre High School in 1968 and continued on to a certificate from Reliance College of Business. Marrying on her 20th birthday in 1970, Linda started her family soon after with her sons Jeff and Mark.
Linda’s helpful spirit and generosity led her to volunteer in many capacities including canvassing for the Canadian Cancer Society on behalf of her sister Frieda Deck and volunteering through St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Program with her beloved dog Cindy.
Linda was well known in the neighborhood as the small woman with the very large dog thanks to Cindy and later the handsome if rather more rambunctious Oreo. She also loved her cat Macaroon.
She was also known for her keen fashion sense, talent for D.I.Y. home décor and beautiful garden. She took pride in her home which was a frequent gathering place for family and friends. Linda was always ready to celebrate a friend’s birthday with a cake, or Christmas with her famous secret recipe cheese ball.
Linda will be sadly missed by her family, friends and co-workers. She is predeceased by her parents Anton and Katherine Niedermayer, and sister Frieda Deck. She is survived by her sons Jeff (Annette) and Mark (Jocelyn).
Flowers are gratefully declined. Those so wishing may make a donation in her name to the animal welfare charity of their choice.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, June 23, 2025 in the Lady Slipper Courtyard, Wascana Place (2900 Wascana Dr, Regina, SK) between the hours of 4:30 and 7:30 pm
