Leo Peter Gilligan

In Loving Memory of Leo Peter Gilligan

A Beloved Brother, Uncle, and Friend

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Leo Peter Gilligan, who left us peacefully on October 29, 2025, in his 73rd year. Late of Port Coquitlam, BC, Leo was born in Penetanguishene, Ontario on November 3, 1952, he was the first born and only son of John Patrick Gilligan and Marie Denise Anita Leblanc, both predeceased. Leo was a cherished member of our family, remembered for his warmth, kindness, and unwavering spirit.

Leo was the devoted brother of the Gilligan Girls – Maureen (Ken), Kathleen, Sharon (David) and Trish - whose enduring love and support he treasured throughout his life. Their close sibling bond was a source of joy, strength and inspiration, and Leo’s presence will be missed at every future family gathering.

A proud and loving uncle to Adam, Tyler, Laura, Mark, Kevin (Samantha) and great uncle to Kayla, Leo leaves behind a legacy of laughter and fond memories with his nephews and nieces. He took immense delight in sharing stories, offering guidance, and celebrating their achievements, always making each feel uniquely valued and loved.

An avid golfer, horse racing enthusiast and player of darts and cards, he also enjoyed working in his garden and going fishing. He was handy with tools and was at ease fixing things and he supported friends and family whenever needed. An upholsterer by trade, he was much sought out for his fine attention to detail and quality work in his client’s homes, cars and boats. Leo was a Royal Canadian Legion Associate member for 50 years. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Though he is gone, Leo’s spirit and the memories he created will remain with us always. We will remember his laughter, his wisdom, and the profound love he gave so freely.

Rest in peace, dear Leo. You will be forever missed and always in our heart.

A celebration of Leo’s life will be held on Saturday November 15, 2025, at the Amenities Building at Bose Ridge at 16378 64th Avenue, Surrey (Cloverdale West) V3S 6X6, from 12:00pm to 2:00pm, where family and friends in the BC Lower Mainland are invited to gather and share their memories. A second celebration will take place in Penetanguishene, Ontario, later in summer of 2026 for friends and family there.
