LENCUCHA, Joseph Rinaldo

Joseph “Joe” Lencucha passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at the age of 69 years.

Joe is lovingly remembered by his family; wife, Joyce of 43 years; his children, Christina (Simon) and Michael (Kendalle); 4 grandchildren, Oliver, Benjamin, Harrison and Layla; siblings, Mike (Miriam), Mary Ann (Terry Cennon) , Paul, Anita Annand (Larry), Cecilia, Theresa Belter (Paul), Patrick (Karen), Helen McKinnon (Dave) , Rita Bulmer (Gerry); in laws, David Bolduc, Mary Smith, Shelagh Blais (Gerry), Bill Smithwick (Laura); his Aunt Molly and Uncle Wilfred plus cousins and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by his parents, Joe and Ricca; sister, Margaret; Joyce’s parents, Marjorie and Bill; sisters in law, Sherry and Avra; brother in law, George; and niece, Meghan.

Joe was a man of many talents and passions. In addition to loving his wife and children, he enjoyed golf, cooking, ice fishing, photography, cars (drag races and street rods), working in his garage, carpentry, watching and playing hockey, traveling, and late-night drinks in the hot tub.

His family wishes to thank the amazing staff of unit 32 (Red Deer Regional Hospital), Dr. Daniel, Dr. Henderson and Dr. Thain for the kindness and love shown to Joe and his family. Thank you to the Eucharistic Ministers of both St. Mary’s and Sacred Heart; to all the Home Care Staff who compassionately tended to Joe for many years; to the pharmacists at Ross Street IDA; and to his family and friends who have been so supportive to Joe and Joyce.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Parish, 6 McMillian Avenue, Red Deer, AB on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe’s memory may be made to the David Thompson Health Region Foundation, c/o Grateful Giving, for Unit 32 at the Red Deer Hospital, 3942- 50A Ave. Red Deer, AB, T4N 4E7.

Dear Joyce We are very sorry to hear of Joe's passing. Joe taught me a lot about dealing with people. I could never do it quite as well as Joe, but I very much appreciated the way he did things. It was nice to see that he kept up some humour when I visited him in the hospital. He even offered me some "apple juice" from the jug he was personally filling.
