April 10, 1949 – June 26, 2022

Kevin passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at the age of 73 years at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary Alberta.

He will be lovingly remembered by his slightly annoyed wife, Judy, of 48 years who is now the custodian of an unidentified amount of Chevrolet parts and engines; his favourite daughter, Marnie (James) Galbraith; and grandchildren, Cash and Kinsley Belle; sister, Maggie Baird; nephew, Kevin (Alana & Karin); brother-in-law, Lorne Resvick (Marilyn); and mother-in-law, Anne Resvick. He was predeceased by his father, Herbert Leah; mother, Ruth Bermingham (Woodrow-Leah); and countless treasured friends and relatives.

Kevin was a man of few words and many loves- Cars, eating, swap meets, hoarding, lottery tickets, racing, eating, napping, golf, cooking, shopping, more eating and travelling are just some of them..

Kevin had a long and successful career in HVAC where he developed many close friends wearing Hawaiian shirts and often no pants (only shorts). He always made his presence, grumpiness and opinions known. Whether you liked them or not- He really, really didn’t care.

A very special thank you goes to the patient staff and drivers at Access Calgary; all healthcare and reception at Alberta Health Services, the staff at Bethany Care Center & all those who cared for him (and put up with him) in his later years and health struggles. Kevin was a particular man with many good ideas- such as always needing to have 200 furnace filters and 45 sets of tires (cause they were a good deal). It shall be known his hoarding tendency was steadfast till the end.. Kevin orphaned over 10 golf bags and copious glove boxes for vehicles he never met.

As the Legion held a special place in Kevin’s heart, if you so choose, donations can be made to The Royal Canadian Legion.

Messages of Condolence

Very saddened to hear of the passing of my golf buddy and good friend. We had many good times together, from a golf trip to Scotland c/w a horrible sample of haggis, cross boarder shopping and golfing c/w with Kevin supplying coffee and shopping fliers at the door every morning, swap meets and hot rods and much more. Our memories are fond and many. The last few years have been very trying for him and we hope he has found some peace at last. Our sincere condolences to Judy, Marnie and family.

I first met Kevin in the ‘70s, I was working at Barry’s Auto, he had his tin bashing shop on Burbank Road. So many stories and laughs over the years at millions of car shows and swap meets. I think he was the happiest guy on the planet when he got his yellow ‘65 so beautifully finished. Kevin will be missed by so many. Maybe now he’ll find that elusive stash of bumper guards. My sincere condolences to Judy and all his loved ones.

It was great knowing Kevin, he was a man of many talents. We had the golf bug when Taylormade brought out its 460 Driver. We raved about and Kevin promptly ordered them on line for all of us before I new I could get it. We golfed in all AB seasons 6 am. Sunday until his terrible injury. After, his condition didn't hold him back from getting out and seeing his many friends with his motorized chair and handy bus. He was an inspiration to all of us. It was pleasure knowing you and my condolences to Judy and family.

The staff and management at 3FAB Metal Mfg. would like to send condolences out to Judy, Marnie, and family for the passing of Kevin Douglas Leah. Some of the employees at 3FAB spent many years working with Kevin at Alggin Metal industries. While he was healthy Kevin used to pop in time and again to say hello. He was well liked by everyone here. We would like to thank Kevin for his support and friendship through the years. Kevin was a warrior he always believed that he would get better one day. He was an inspiration to us all. We are all blessed for having had Kevin in our lives.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts and remembrances. Seven years ago today Kevin was admitted to the foothills hospital neurology department. It was a very rare SDAVF diagnosis that he fought hard and bravely to overcome. We had a blessed life with so many travels and good friends and relatives to help us navigate through those difficult years. Go bless and thank you for your kindness and support.

Hope your roads are now smooth and free of gravel buddy. I enjoyed many dinners and cruise nights with Kevin. He was never shy about opinions on how I could be doing my job differently but they were mostly in jest. All too few golf games and only a couple road trips. No surprise that so many projects remain to be completed Judy. We talked a lot about our cars more than we turned wrenches. Kevin was fortunate to have a supportive and capable wife, a lovely daughter, respected career, many, many friends and things that he deeply loved to do. A life well lived if too short.
