Joyce A. Lancaster (nee Morgan), beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at the age of 97. Joyce was born in Sixpenny Handley, England on November 24, 1918. She worked as a nurse during WWII in England and after the war served in the British army in India and Kenya. She met her future husband, Robert L. Lancaster, when he was serving in the Canadian army in England. She was married in Red Deer, Alberta in 1948. Joyce and Rob spent the following years in Guelph, Nelson, where their four children were born, Abbotsford and Surrey BC and finally in Fort Macleod, AB, where they lived for many years. After Rob passed away in 1982, Joyce moved to Calgary.
Joyce is survived by her children, Jill (Brian) McColl, Richard (Nancy) and Duncan (Vikki); and by son-in-law, Thomas Erdman (Betty). She also leaves her precious grandchildren, Ian & Karen McColl, Torey & Tamara Erdman, Eric Lancaster and Kent & Colin Lancaster; three nieces, Anne Sanders, Sandra and Karen Murray; and nephew, Ian Perrett in England. She was predeceased by her daughter, Mary Erdman, in 1995.
The family wish to thank the staff of Staywell Manor for their care and support of Joyce for the last four years. A Celebration of Joyce’s Life will be held at a later date.
