It is with great sadness that we announce that on December 3, 2019, we unexpectedly lost Marjorie Bertha Labonne (Renaud) of Red Deer, Alberta, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was born on May 2, 1948, in Kimberley, B.C. She is fondly remembered by those who she made an incredible impact on, including her Mother Eva Renaud (Marquis) and Father George Renaud both of whom predeceased her.
Marjorie attended McKim High School. After the sudden death of her father in 1966, she moved to Montreal with her Mother, where she met her future husband to be, Normand Labonne. While living in Montreal, Marjorie went to Montreal Ecole de Coiffeurs school to take up hairdressing.
In 1971, she married her best friend! They welcomed their first child, Stephane in 1973.
They moved to Kimberley, in 1974, where they would expect their second child, Renee born in 1976.
Marjorie took a shot at bartending and worked on a part time basis evenings at the Mount Baker Hotel and the T & C lounges in Cranbrook, BC.They enjoyed the mountains of B.C. and resided there until 1986, when Normand received a work transfer to Red Deer, AB, where they resided until 1994. Marjorie worked as caretaker at the former Michener Centre.
In 1994, the family moved to a new home in Edmonton, when another opportunity presented itself, i.e. flying in and out of Resolute Bay, NT, where both worked in supply management and house-keeping respectively.
After 7 years, they pursued an opportunity at Deere International, in Nisku.
Marjorie completed her working career in accounting at O.E.M. Reman in 2012 and retired thereafter.
While in Edmonton, both Marjorie’s children, completed their post-secondary education. One, later to become a teacher in Red Deer and the other, the Chief Administrative Officer for the Town of Morinville.
Marjorie has become an avid Oiler fan since watching Wayne in the glory days and now really excited about the Connor / Leon dynamic duo.
Marjorie travelled throughout North America and also cruised the Mexican Riviera and totally enjoyed travelling across our wonderful country that is Canada.
Marjorie is survived by her brother George Renaud, sister-in law, Mary (Neale), their children Jodi Anderson (husband-Derek), their children, Alyssa, and Danielle, Rob Renaud (wife-Sherri) (Dyer), their kids, Ryan and Hailey. Craig Renaud predeceased Marjorie.
