Sharon Fay Labinsky

Born:  November 5/43 - Died: January 5/23

Friends and family mourn the loss of a vibrant and loving soul.  Sharon passed away unexpectedly at home in the arms of her loving husband Reginald on Jan 5th, 2023. Sharon began life with her family in North Battleford, Saskatchewan.  She was one of seven children and a happy-go-lucky girl with beautiful blond hair and an energetic personality.  The family relocated to BC early in her life.  Sharon was always sharp-witted, kind, and stylish.  No doubt the love of her life, Reginald Labinsky, was attracted to her beauty and intelligence when they met in childhood.  Attending high school at Queen Elizabeth High School in Surrey, BC, they grew closer and became sweethearts.  They married in 1961 and moved around to pursue Reg's career, returning to settle in the Lower Mainland when their children were school age.  Sharon deeply loved their children Jeff (Kirby), Kelly, and Kyle.  Over the years Sharon loved to travel and built many close friendships and a career.  Sharon worked at the Hudson's Bay Co. in the payroll/accounting department for years, and then started her own book keeping business taking on small businesses as her clients.  Sharon developed a close-knit circle of friends called the “Dough Girls” who did activities together and travelled as a group.  She was very stylish and appreciated beautiful jewellery, clothes, makeup, and haircuts; she was admired by many.  Sharon enjoyed shopping, going to church, baking, being with friends and family, hanging out with her granddaughters Kiana and Biatrix, visiting and travelling with her sister(s), and being at home with her sweetie and their pets.  Sharon had several health struggles over the years but always faced these with a realistic and stoic attitude.  Sharon had a way of caring for and nurturing others.  When the couple settled in their retirement years to Langley, BC, Sharon made a whole new set of friends and continued to be part of her community.

Sharon is survived by her loving husband, Reginald Labinsky, their children Jeff (Kirby) Taylor, Kelly Hao (Eric), Kyle Labinsky (Amber), granddaughters Kiana Hao & Biatrix Labinsky, sister Wilma Brewer, and many nieces, nephews, brother & sister-in-laws, cousins, and friends who will miss her sharp wit, laughter, friendship, compassion, and love.  She is pre-deceased by her parents Alice (née Snyder) & Melvin Hellrud, brothers Ronald and Donald Hellrud, sisters Lorna Hellrud, Dorothy Keep (née Hellrud), and Kay Dyke (née Hellrud).
