Ted Wilbert Kostenuke

Dear Andrew, Karen and Family, We are very sorry for the loss of your father. He was our neighbor and friend. He will be remembered as a strong individual in the Bearberry and Agricultural Community. Ted and your family will also remain part of our ranch operation as we purchased 2 quarters off of him spring 2015. I believe he felt good about this sale as he knew the property was going to be used for agricultural purposes and be looked after as he had done for many years. Kostenuke family: we are so sorry to hear about the loss of your father. We were neighbours for several years and he will be missed.

Ted has been a neighbour since the family moved from Calgary to Bearberry. We eventually learned of his efforts re the building of the Sundre Aquaplex which was up and running when Nila moved back to Bearberry. Ted spent 4000 Mechanical Engineering "volunteer hours" in the construction of this amazing asset to the community. He insisted that the infrastructure be properly built in order for it to last as long as possible. Supporting this facility is very important for our family and the community and I hope that others will contribute to its continued availability. Alex and I are honoured to contribute funds to the Aquaplex Society in memory of Ted Kostenuke's considerable contribution. Please accept our condolences Andrew and Karen. Hi Karen & Andy, First, I apologize for any damage that I inflicted on you as your former math teacher. I hope any PTSD is now under control. You had both moved onto adult life when I finally had the good fortune to meet your father in the year 2000. He expressed his desire to provide for the youth of Sundre through his dedication to the construction of the Aquaplex. Working with Ted I found a man of outstanding integrity and intelligence. We spent thousands of hours working together on a project that would have overwhelmed any other volunteer group - our greatest asset was your dad. Through the years he became a cherished friend of mine. You can be very proud of your dad - he was an outstanding person! You have the condolences of both Trish and I.

Condolences to Ted's family and friends. I got to know Ted where I work east of Bowden, I was always happy to see Ted. We had good visits when he came. He always reminded me of my wife's father, he looked just like him. I will miss him and our visits.

I didn't know Ted well but he would phone me sometimes with questions about Bearberry. I had chatted with him at some of the Bearberry events. I enjoyed my conversations with him and was sorry to hear of his passing.

Andrew and Karen and family members, we regret and were surprised to recently hear that Ted had passed. We once were more active in the Bearberry area and had participated in one of Ted's Swiss Braunvieh cattle operations for a few years. We could not keep pace with this very astute, hard working man; you all can be very proud of Ted and his legacy of principled volunteerism.

Sorry to hear about Ted. We didn't know him that well but every day would watch him drive by to tend to his cows. Our dog would bark as if to say hello to Ted going by slowly and we would all wave. He stopped in a couple of times for a visit and we would chat about the past or his cows. I told him if he ever needed help or a vacation I would look after them. He came in one time and the cows got out so a bunch of us went and helped move the cows back. Funny how they knew exactly where to go. We just followed them in Teds truck all the way home. We will think of him twice a day, going South and North. Farewell Ted and God Bless to your family!
