Joseph David Kopchuk

Joe was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB and then moved to the Calgary area with his family in the 60’s.  Joe liked camping, fishing, going to auctions, and taking road trips. A Sunday tradition for him was taking his family fishing or for ice cream. Joe and his wife Gerry moved to Caroline, AB in 2003. He enjoyed playing cards at the senior centre and visiting with Gordon and Vivian Miller. He prided himself on his backyard orchard and every year his daughter would take him to buy a new tree. He looked forward to the weekends when his friends, Bob and Dixie, would come take him for dinner at the Sundre Hotel where he got to see his favorite server Kim. Joe was a loyal Sundre IGA shopper and would only eat their bakery bread. He liked his visits with Tom, who always called Joe, “ole blue eyes”. This past April, Joe fulfilled one of his dreams of going to Las Vegas. It was his first time on a large plane and he got to experience all the sights, including Vegas Show Girls.  Joe is predeceased by his wife of 58 years Gerry (2010), his son Danny (2013), and his infant daughter Valerie. He is survived by his children Diane Fay, Sheri (Roy) Romanow, Kim (Allen) Morden, and Joe (Angie) Kopchuk . He has nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Joe also leaves behind his beloved cat “Sam”.
