Dorothy Kendrick (nee Robinson) died peacefully on Sunday, September 11, 2011, in the quiet, early hours. She was born in Chinook, Alberta and moved to Calgary as a young woman, drawn by the adventure of the big city. She met her husband Max while working in Turner Valley. She had a long career in the oil industry, working at Royalite and Home Oil. Always the inquiring mind, she had a keen interest in geology, nature and classical literature; and was years ahead of everyone with organic nutrition. Dorothy was a serious artist and was a long standing member of the Calgary Sketch Club. She showed in many exhibitions and enjoyed the companionship of fellow artists, forming lifelong friendships. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Although feisty at times, she had a huge heart and was always kind to those less fortunate than herself. Her family was her everything. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Max, her sisters Louise and Ruth and nephews Dennis and Colin. She is survived by nieces and nephews and their families. Thanks to Dr. Fleck and the nurses of Unit 72 at the Rockyview Hospital. The family thanks her wonderful friends and neighbours for their kindness and watchful eye. There will be a Private Family Memorial at the farm that she so dearly loved.
Messages of condolence may be left for the family.
