Ken and Marlene Goeres

Ken and Marlene Goeres

It is with great sadness and deep love and gratitude for a life well-lived, that the family of Ken (AKA Farmer Ken) and Marlene Goeres (nee Mervin) share the news of Ken passing on April 30, 2025, aged 87 years and wife Marlene passing on May 15, 2025, aged 86.  They were married for 66 years and now will spend eternity together.  Ken loved cars but sold his Hotrod Mercury to buy their first house. Ken and Marlene spent all of their lives in the lower mainland, the majority in Surrey and later settling in Abbotsford on Ledgeview golf course. They married young and had their own business, Farmer Ken’s market, still in their twenties. They worked hard and retired in their mid thirties.  Ken went on to a short but successful Real Estate career before retiring and taking up Golf full time. They spent winters in Mexico, Arizona and finally Florida, their love of golf continued year round. They travelled many places, cruises, driving across Canada, always together, often with Marlene’s parents, Rudy and Alice. Ken was recently inducted into the Whalley Baseball hall of fame as Coach of the first Whalley L.L. team to go to the Little League World Series in Williamsport PA 1973.  Marlene was a dancer, excellent golfer, always hard working and rarely seen sitting down.  As a team they were unstoppable. Unfortunately Marlene was ill with dementia for the last few years of her life but her kindness and gentle demeanor never left her.  They will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered by their children Jeff, Phil (Connie), Michelle (Mike), beloved grandchildren Rudy, Garrett, Shawn, Kaitlyn, Alison, and Jenna and great grandchildren Adley, Michael, William, Isabelle and Sebastian.  Survived by brothers Larry (Elaine) Goeres, and Ken (Gloria) Mervin, sister Judy Goeres and many nieces and nephews.

May they be golfing in the grand golf course in the heavens.

In lieu of flowers please consider donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of BC.
