Katharine Ruth Dyson (nee Pettigrew)

Katharine Ruth Dyson (nee Pettigrew) passed suddenly July 14, 2026 at PAH White Rock, BC. She was predeceased by her dearly loved and missed husband Terence (Terry) Dyson, and her parents Gilles and Lorna Pettigrew.

The eldest of three children, Katharine was born September 4, 1955 in Clinton, ON, living also in Quebec and Washington State, and settled in the White Rock area in the 1990s. She met and married Terry in January 2002. After working 20 plus years with UBC Hospital HR and then Vancouver Coastal Health, Katharine retired and began working part time in several local women’s fashions shops in the White Rock area. She became known for her unique fashion styles, displays of jewelry, hats and glasses.

Kathrine was a big reader, crossword puzzle enthusiast and loved scrabble. She and Terry enjoyed many hours of fun competition with his niece and her husband playing trionimos. Katharine touched many lives in small ways and was generous in her thoughtfulness, kindness and gifts, and will be dearly missed by many — especially her two feline friends Smokey and Bandit.

The family thank her friends who visited her in hospital, and brought care and comfort to us during those days, and also at home with many loving wishes, flowers and meals. Deep appreciation to the health care team members of Peace Arch Hospital ER and ACE 6th Floor, who cared for Katharine in her final days. She is survived by her brother Michael Pettigrew (Kimberley Kornas) of Ontario, and sister Joanne Pettigrew (Robert Weckworth) of Surrey.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to a local food bank or charity of your choice in her memory.
