May 7, 1933 – January 24, 2015

Johnny passed away at Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the age of 81. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Shirley; his son, Darren; his three daughters, Nancy (Kevin), Kim (Stu), Tammy (Ray); as well as treasured grandchildren and great grandchildren. His memory will also be cherished by his surviving siblings, family & many friends. Johnny was raised in Rumsey, AB by his parents Johnny and Mary Johnson, together with 10 brothers and sisters. Beloved by all was Johnny’s tremendous sense of humour and we ask that you bring yours to a Celebration of his Life at the Royal Canadian Legion, 2810 Bremner Avenue, Red Deer, AB on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at High Noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Johnny’s name may be made to Calgary Health Trust (www.CalgaryHealthtrust.ca): Designate Trauma Unit #44 or to a charity of your choice.

Johnny will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends. We fondly remember the hundreds of afternoons and evenings that we spent with Johnny and Shirley in their home in Calgary and other homes. Johnny taught us to play cribbage and then soundly beat us most games over the years. He had the uncanny ability to count up your score in about 1 nanosecond no matter how complex the counting would be. Johnny was not just a "shirt tail relative" he was our very good friend. Rest in peace amigo.
