John Patrick Michael McNeil

September 16, 2025

John Patrick Michael McNeil

John (Michael to many of his friends) passed peacefully on September 16,2025 at Renfrew Care Centre with his cousin at his side.

John was born on January 24,1954 in Winnipeg, MB, to Vonne Violet Kathleen McNeil (nee Barrill) and Joseph Timothy McNeil.

John grew up in North Vancouver attending both primary and high schools there, graduating from Carson Graham Secondary School in 1972. He went on to study at the University of British Columbia. During his career he worked as an accountant in both public and private practices.

John enjoyed his friends, travel, telling stories, and music. He played electric guitar and was part of a garage band. He loved the Beatles and in 1963 forced his younger cousin to memorize all their names from the cover of the Beatlemania! album.

John was predeceased by his parents, stepmother Alina (Helen) Tene McNeil (nee Schmidt), and his two younger brothers Stephen Joseph Timothy McNeil and Robert James McNeil.

Many thanks to the staff at Renfrew Care Centre for their kind and compassionate care over the last few years.

Memorial Mass to be said 11:30 AM Friday November 7, 2025 at Saint Judes’ Catholic Church, 3078 Renfrew Street, Vancouver.
