Jim Duncan was born in 1957 to parents Alec and Jackie. After spending the first few years in Winnipeg, the family moved to Richmond, BC where Jim grew up and went to school. He met his wife Sylvia while studying music at UBC. They were married in 1980 and after finishing university, and getting teaching jobs, they moved to Langley in 1983. Over the years they welcomed four children into their lives, followed by 7 grandchildren.
Jim taught school both in Richmond and Langley for 33 years, sharing his love of music with all. He also spent many years coaching Little League baseball.
After retiring in 2014, he and Sylvia spent many wonderful years travelling all around, both overseas and in their travel trailer.
Jim was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2024 and after a hard fought battle he died on March 9, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia, his children: Mike( Karen), Richard( Maureen), Laura(Travis), and Stephen, his mother Jackie, his brother, Bill (Joyce) and the seven little ones that brought Jim so much joy in the last few years: Brooklyn, Rose, Blair, Hailey, Aven, Mackenzie and William.

There will be a service on Saturday April 4th at 11:00 am at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church 20097 -72nd Ave.
