Gerhard Huebner
After a long battle with COPD complicated by pneumonia, Gary passed away peacefully with many of his close ones at his side.  He is survived by his children – Jennifer (Cory), Mitchell (Amber) and Daniel.  He also has; two brothers Klaus (Betty) in Winnipeg, Gunter in Airdrie, two sisters – Renate (Dieter) in Germany and Ziggy (Dwayne) in Olds, as well as many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by two brothers, Heinz (Isa) and Dieter (Helga) both in Germany. Gary was born in Senne #2 Germany and immigrated to Winnipeg MB with his twin brother Gunter in 1969.  Following in his passion for cooking, he opened a bakery in Selkirk MB with his lifetime Canadian friend Mel, then later moved on to Port Hope, ON, where he opened a new bakery.  In later years, he settled in Airdrie, AB enjoying a lot of family life -  especially camping & bar- b- ques and always sharing his wonderful sense of humor. The family would like to thank the caring staff at the Peter Lougheed, Rockyview, & Bethany Centres in Calgary and well as those at Unit 36 of the Foothills Hospital.  A private family service has been held. A Celebration of Life will be planned for Gary at a later time.

Messages of Condolence

Always enjoyed seeing Gary, good man with a good heart, would give you the shirt off his back and drop what he was doing to help you, it’s too bad there aren’t more people like him in this world.....he always took the time to ask my mother how I was doing and check on me. It’s too bad he lost his battle..... Penny and I will both miss you See you in heaven Gary ~ James Desaulniers
