Hendrika "Rita" Byl

Rita was born on December 14, 1927, in Zuidland, the Netherlands. She passed peacefully from this life into the presence of her Lord and Saviour on September 9, 2025, at the age of 97.

Rita was predeceased by her beloved husband, Dirk Byl, and by all her siblings. She is survived by her daughter Colleen (Peter) Van Ooyen, sons John (Catherine), Frank (Susanne), and Ken (Wendy), 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law, one brother-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. She loved her family deeply and was loved deeply in return. She always had a ready smile, a kind word, and a hug for everyone.

The family extend our heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Elim Retirement Village, especially to the staff of 3 North in The Harrison, who cared for Rita so well, so gently, and so respectfully these last months of her life as she gradually declined.
