It is with the utmost gratitude for a life well-lived, that we announce the passing of our beloved Paul. He was predeceased by parents Howard and Margaret Hendershot. He leaves behind his loving wife of 45 years, Linda, siblings Kathleen (Jacques) Hilary (Malcolm), and Bill (Suzanne). He will be missed by son Aaron (Heike), granddaughter Lotte, daughter Megan (Matt), grandson Fletcher, and cherished nieces, nephews and friends.
Paul grew up in Harrow, Ontario, moving to Windsor as a teen. A talented athlete, Paul played football for Kennedy Collegiate, receiving consecutive All-City Athlete of the Year Awards. Playing football for the Golden Hawks was the highlight of his time at Waterloo Lutheran University. Deep bonds and lasting memories with were forged with team mates. Paul was voted MVP in his final year. A CFL draft brought Paul to Edmonton, where he met Linda. They moved to the Lower Mainland in the 70’s, where Paul played for the Vancouver Kats Rugby Club.
In 1980, Paul founded an industrial sweeping business. Hard work, integrity, and long hours contributed to his success until he retired in 2019. He will be remembered for his love of sports and respect for nature, which he imparted to his children. Paul was a content soul, possessing the perfect combination of creativity and capability, evidenced by his unique backyard pond, rooftop deck, and many other labours of love. He loved his kids and was so proud of them.
The family would like to extend their deep gratitude to health care professionals who cared for Paul. In lieu of flowers, Paul would have liked you to get out and enjoy nature; we encourage you to do so in fond memory of him. Donations can be made in his honour to Langley Memorial Hospital Foundation. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence for the family.
