Hazel Ellen Hamilton

July 2, 1923 – October 21, 2026

Hazel Ellen Hamilton of Surrey, British Columbia, has passed away at the age of 103. She was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan to the late Rev. Robert H. and Jennie (Walls) Hamilton, the youngest of ten children. Hazel was predeceased by her four sisters and five brothers.

Following her studies at university, Hazel taught math and accounting at elementary, secondary, and university levels in the US and Canada. She also worked as a bookkeeper for Seattle Pacific and Trinity Western Universities, World Literature Crusade, and World Vision. In her retirement, she volunteered at Union Gospel Mission and taught English to new Canadians.

Hazel had a deep Christian faith and attributed her life of service to God's blessing. She once shared, "All honour goes to the Lord for opening doors for me to fill needs. I have not applied for any positions...God has opened every door.”

She will be missed by all who knew her, and especially by her numerous nieces and nephews for whom she gave her love as "Aunt Hazel". The family is especially grateful for the patient and loving care of staff at Morgan Creek Seniors Community and Elim Village in Surrey, BC.

As per Hazel’s wishes, a graveside burial service will be held at Armadale Free Methodist Church Cemetery at Passmore Rd, Scarborough, ON at 11:30 am on Thursday, November 26th, 2026. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Union Gospel Mission or Trinity Western University
