Left to cherish Marlene’s memory is her husband of 52 years Nelson Haygarth; daughter Roberta (Roger) Tetreault, grandsons Brandon and Colin; son Daren (Corrine) Haygarth, granddaughter Sydney and grandsons Matthew and Blake; brothers Jim (Maureen) Singleton, Ken (Denise) Singleton and Rob (Sheila) Singleton; her sister Darlene (Dave) McCulloch; sisters-in-law Dorothy Brodland, Beatrice Malin, Gwen Vallee, Sheila (Earl) Enevoldsen and Pearl Haygarth; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Marlene was born on May 6, 1942 at Kisbey, Saskatchewan, the oldest daughter of five children, to Robert and Nora Singleton. Marlene grew up in Kisbey and after high school moved to Regina to attend school at Balfour Collegiate. After finishing her schooling, she accepted a position at Sasktel. In 1969, she married Nelson Haygarth and moved to Alameda, Saskatchewan where they resided until 2018. They then moved to Regina to be closer to family.
Marlene spent many hours volunteering in the community and in the church, as her passion was to serve and help others. On April 1, 2000 she was ordained in the Anglican Church, serving in the congregation at All Saints Anglican Church, Oxbow, Saskatchewan. She was also the secretary treasurer for the Alameda Agricultural Society for several years.
The last few years she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and staying connected with family and friends, mainly over the phone due to her health challenges.
Marlene will always be remembered in our hearts as a loving wife, mother, aunt and sister where family meant the world to her.
