It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Justin on August 7th, 2014 at the age of 29. Justin is survived by his mother Laurie Hawke, his father and stepmother Steve and Alana Hasiak, his sisters Saralynne and Stephanie, his grandmother Clara Hawke and numerous other relatives. He is predeceased by his grandparents Bill Hawke and Sarah and Jan Hasiak.
Justin was an extremely talented individual in many areas. He drew, painted, wrote poetry, created cartoons, built computer games ( he was an avid gamer ). He enjoyed photography, cooking and most recently was working with a friend on a standup comedy routine. His passion, however, was music. Justin loved and wrote in all different styles of music and played various instruments, all of them well.
Justin loved to come out to the beach especially in the summer. He couldn’t wait to get out on the lake and fish. He always brought his guitar and there are many fond memories of Justin “jammin” around a campfire.
In 2003 Justin was involved in a near fatal skateboarding accident that put him into a coma and he was not expected to survive. He did survive and the concern at the time was how or if his creative side would be affected. Much to our surprise his creative abilities soared and over the next eleven years he gave us all wonderful gifts of sight and sound.
Over the years, Justin became interested in cooking and held jobs in several restaurant kitchens in Regina. His last job was line cook at Ricky’s at the Seven Oaks Hotel. There, he not only honed his culinary skills but made very strong bonds with his co-workers. He loved his job.
Justin made many friends and was loyal to them all. A close friend stated that when you shook Justin’s hand for the first time you knew you had just made a friend.
His presence, his wit, his jokes, his artistry, his love, his essence will be missed by all who knew him. There are no words to describe the void left behind.
A private ceremony will be held for immediate family and close friends. A memorial event celebrating Justin’s life will be held on Friday, September 12th, 2014 at 8:00 P.M. in O’Hanlon’s, 1947 Scarth St. in Regina. www.facebook.com/JHMemorial In lieu of flowers, please hug your family members and tell them you love them….every day.
