Iona Myrtice Hartwell passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 in the Regina General Hospital at the age of 94 years. Iona was born on October 8, 1919 in Canora, SK. She was predeceased by her parents Emby and George Hartwell and three half-sisters Ruby Campbell, Hazel Turner, and Edna Giebel. Iona will be mourned by her brother Arthur Hartwell (Vivian), as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In her employment years she had worked with Ogilvie Flour Mills in Winnipeg, worked in a northern mining community in Ontario, worked a time at the House of Commons in Ottawa, and returned to Saskatchewan where her employment included a time in Women’s Extension Works with Federated Co-operatives in Saskatoon. She concluded her service with the Government of Saskatchewan, some seventeen years of which were with the Saskatchewan Power Corporation. Private family graveside service will be held. Cremation will take place and her cremains will be buried with her parents in Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
