HARRY E. BULLEN

January 1, 1947 – July 9, 2025

Harry Bullen, born in Vancouver, BC, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025, at the age of 78. He was predeceased by his beloved partner, George Monkman and his parents, Ethel (nee Wood) and Geoff Bullen.

Harry is lovingly remembered by his children Kate (Corey) , Emily (John), and Gillian (Dave).  He was a proud grandfather to Kieran, Caris, Corbin, Elijah, Gemma, and Travis. He will also be missed by his sister, May Gall, good friend Dana Drake and many others.

Raised in East Vancouver, Harry went on to live in Squamish for many years.  He also lived in North Vancouver and Chilliwack during his colorful and full life.

Known for his big personality, fun-loving spirit, and sharp sense of humor, Harry was a man of worldly knowledge and artistic je ne sais quoi.

He worked in the beauty industry for over 50 years as a barber, hairdresser, community college instructor and successful salon owner. More than just a career, it was his social hub, where he forged countless friendships with his colleagues and clients over the decades.

Harry had a zest for life and a love of travel - always eager to explore new places. He had a passion for art and all forms of design. He cherished time spent with family, friends, and his beloved pets. Above all, he loved a good party — especially with red wine in hand.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, with details to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Harry’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the BC Dementia Care Society.

I am so sad to hear of Harry’s passing. He was an awesome human being. I’ve known Harry since I was 19 yrs old and I will forever feel blessed to have known him all these decades.  When my daughter was about 4 yrs old I would bring her to the salon (with Harry’s permission) and while he was washing my hair, he’d put an I Spy book on my chest so he and Erin could play I spy. He was such a sweetheart. Heaven is a better place now that Harry has arrived. My very deepest sympathies. May his memory be a blessing.  Rest in Peace🌹   ~ Bonnie Kennedy

So sorry to hear of Harry's passing, he was such a wonderful person & so witty & fun! I was 9 the first time Harry did an updo on my very long thick red hair, that was a challenge to dry. Later when I moved back to Squamish to raise our family, I opened up an esthetics business in the same mall area. We respected each others businesses & never carried product lines the same. My husband became Harry's client until Harry retired. My husband would come home with stories from Harry & had loads of laughs with him. When we moved to Marina Estates we enjoyed a few get together at Harry's. We were so saddened to hear of Harry's passing, he was truly a Gem to know. Pls keep us updated to when & where is celebration we be as we'd love to attend.Sincerely, Vince & Jeanne Luca  ~ Vince & Jeanne ( Ryan) Luca
