Mabel Harris, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully Saturday, December 2nd at the age of 100.
Mourning her passing are:
Sons: Robert, Gordon (Diane), Stuart (Lynn) and Miles (Melinda);
Grandchildren: Wendy, James (Cheryl), Craig (Dana), David (Amanda), Angela (Chad), Carrie (Shale), Matthew (Christie), Mitchell (Taylor), Brianne (Chad), Brooke (Marc) and Dana (Scott)
Great Grandchildren: Bret, Daniel, Camryn, Alisha, Mitchel, Natasha, Jack, Clair, Zachary, Avery, Dominic, Selena, Seanna, Santana, Noah, Logan, Allison, Riley, Levi, Brooks, Demi, Maia, Tate, Wren, and twins Kennedy and Leighton.
Mabel is survived by her sister, Doris (Jim), and was predeceased by her husband Ed, daughter Kelly, her grandchildren Danni and Kathy and by her siblings, Violet (Hector), Hazel (Orvil), Verner (Phyllis) and Lynn (Wilf).
Mabel was born in 1923 to Helmer and Anna Johnson in Shell Lake, SK. After graduating from High School in Shell Lake she moved to Saskatoon where she met Ed Harris. They were married in 1946 until Ed’s passing in 1982.
Mabel moved with Ed to Gravenhurst, Ontario where they worked at Ed’s family summer resort and later owned a taxi business. Ed and Mabel moved back to Leask in 1951 to work and raise their family.
After proudly working for Canada Post with her Postmaster husband, Mabel retired in 1983.
Mabel enjoyed spending time with family, playing cards, golfing, curling, volunteering with various community organizations, and researching her family history which led her to travel to Sweden.
The Family is planning a “Celebration of Life” in the spring of 2024.
