Hannita Meinen
Hannita was born in Huizen, in the Netherlands, where she lived for the first 9 years of her life. In 1981, she moved with her family to Canada, where they settled in Abbotsford, BC. It was here that she met Andy at the age of 16, and they were married 3 years later. Together they were blessed with 3 beautiful children: Amanda, Alicia and Andrew.
It did not take long for them to explore different places throughout their married life. They moved from BC to New York, to New Jersey, to Ontario, and then eventually back to BC again where Hannita would live the last 13 years of her life. It was here that she was also blessed with 2 grandchildren, Ryland and Bryson.
Hannita had many hobbies, she enjoyed baking, sewing, painting; expressing her creative talents in many ways. But her main pride and joy were her children and she loved spending time with them, and they were always eager to try new and exciting things together, leading to many stories to share.
Despite the many blessings and precious memories in all these different places they called home as a family, life was not always easy. In 2009 Hannita was diagnosed with HD, a disease that slowly but surely took her body, and eventually took her life just a week ago. However, the disease could not diminish her fighting spirit and her faith. The opposite is true. She faced her battle with courage and remained an inspiration to many until the very end. She was a blessing to many.
