Poland, Europe – Calgary, Alberta

Our family and friends have lost a truly remarkable man after a short illness, John passed away peacefully with his wife at his side.

John immigrated from Poland in 1969 and graduated from the University of Alberta as a Mechanical Engineer in 1974. He had a very successful career in the Oil and Gas industry and was lucky to retire early in 2000.

John was a world traveler, he and his wife, Bonnie, travelled to all seven continents in the world. He got to travel to many places that people only dream about seeing and he got great joy from his world adventures.

He will be remembered and deeply missed by many but in particular his wife and soulmate of 39 years, Bonnie; his only daughter, Nicole; son-in-law, Dave; and granddaughter, Adrianna. John had a great joy from being a grandparent. He also leaves behind his family in Poland, brother, Marek; niece, Martyna and Marcelina; nephews, Igor and Bartosz; and cousin, Krystyna in Vancouver. John was predeceased by his parents, Halina and Tadeusz.

As per John’s wishes, there will be no Service.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society in John’s memory so that gains can be made in defeating this terrible illness that takes so many lives.

It is hard to know what to say at a time like this but all I can say is that I have unexpectedly lost a very dear friend. I do have all our great memories from all our years of knowing each other. We have shared many laughs and great times together as well as some sad times. John was very fortunate to find Bonnie because they were one. Bonnie, I know how many wonderful times you spent with John, both in and around the city and also so many amazing, unforgettable journeys you made together to endless places around the world.
