Virgina Mae Groeneveld

Virginia Mae Groeneveld passed away in Calgary on April 19, 2012. Virginia is survived by her children Susan (Glen) Williams; Dennis (Sharen); Bruce (Cindy); Randy (Treena); Allan (Åsa); her sister Bernice (Cliff) Belbin; sister Olive Kreutzer; sister Muriel (Roy) Meadows; sister in law Nita Finley; brother Larry (Theresa) Finley. Grandchildren: Melody (Kale Prystupa), Kyla (Jerad) Smith, Devon (Christie), Wes, Stacey (Jordon Ryan), Eliza, Codey (Terra), Krista (Mike), Justin, Tyson, Zachery, Riley and Nicole. Great grandchildren: Hannah Smith, Owen Prystupa, Garnett Smith, Paige Ryan, Leah Prystupa, Ryder Smith, and Payton Ryan and numerous nieces and nephews. Virginia was predeceased by her parents, Milton and Gladys, sister Mildred Finley, and brothers Jim Finley and Ed Finley. Virginia was born on November 26, 1933 in High River, Alberta. Virginia married Andrew on July 4, 1952. They moved to Rosebud in 1958. There they farmed and raised Simmental cattle until they retired in 1999 to Strathmore, Alberta. Virginia was very active in the communities that she lived in. A celebration of Virginia’s life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on April 25, 2012 at Hope Community Covenant Church in Strathmore, Alberta. A special thank you to Dr. Mark Vacy-Lyle, Dr. D. Piesas and their staff. Virginia’s family would also like to express their heartfelt thank you to all of you; our dearest friends, for all your thoughts, prayers, phone calls, cards, flowers and delicious foods. Virginia will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

What a woman-she was the hostess with the mostest and nobody could throw a party like Virginia. She was such a hardworking person and a great community worker. Andrew and Virginia raised such a wonderful family and they were so proud of their daughter,sons,daughter-in-laws and son-in-law and all their grandchildren and felt they had been so blessed even though there were many health issues and struggles the last 45 years-we all admired their strength and courage and perserverence and wished we could be more like them. Ken and I loved playing cards ,camping,travelling to Mexico,and just having so many fun times together with them. It is always very difficult to say good-bye to a very dear long time friend and we will miss her very much. Our thoughts are with her family at this sad time-love you all. Ken and Marlene
