Airdrie area resident, Cory James Goertzen, 39, passed away as the result of a tragic vehicle accident on Wednesday, January 9, 2013. Born in Medicine Hat, AB, on May 1, 1973, he also lived in Abbotsford, B.C., during his youth before moving to the Airdrie area in 1997 where he thereafter operated his own drywall business. Cory is survived by his loving wife, Audrey, and their five children,
Brooke, Gabi, Taylor, Noah, and Regan; as well as by his parents, Jake and Anne Goertzen, and his brother Gerry (Jackie), all of Calgary. Also surviving are Audrey’s parents, George and Sarah Janzen of Hague, SK; Audrey’s brother,
Wendel (Crystal) Janzen; Audrey’s sisters, Deb (Greg) Wall, Jackie (Shane) Markentin, Leona (Ron) Neufeld, and numerous nieces and nephews. Cory was very active in the Airdrie minor hockey program as a coach, manager and volunteer and will be greatly missed by the numerous parents and youth he worked with there as well as by many, many other friends in and around Airdrie.
