Dr. Akude Gletsu passed away peacefully on
Thursday, January 31, 2013 at the age of 85 years. Akude is survived by his wife of 38 years,
Carol Gletsu, by his children Nana (Ronald) Miller, David Gletsu, Mawunyo
Gletsu, Stephen Gletsu, and Keli Gletsu, and by his siblings Felicia Atawa and
Gladys Akua-Mansa. The family moved to
Saskatchewan from Ghana in 1980. Akude
practiced medicine in Vanguard, Kincaid, and finally in Langenburg where he
operated a clinic and worked at the local hospital for 20 years. He retired from medical practice in 2001. Akude and Carol then relocated to Regina where
they enjoyed a happy retirement in the company of their children, other family,
and their pets. He filled his days with long
morning walks, his passion for music, and his interest in various sporting events
and public affairs. He will be deeply
missed by his family and friends. A
special thank you to Dr. Stuart McMillan for his care over the years, Dr. Jim
Coruzzi, Dr. Chris Ekong, Dr. Vern Gebhardt and the staff of the Pasqua
emergency department and Regina General neuro-observation unit. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday,
February 6, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in Lakeview United Church, 3200 McCallum Ave,
Regina, SK. In lieu of flowers,
